What to do when the family selected in the plugin does not appear in Revit.

There are several factors that can make a family loaded in your Revit project not work, let's see the most common ones:

1. Visibility/Graphics (VG)

Most of the time loaded families do not appear as they are hidden in the Visibility/Graphics settings of your view in Revit. The keyboard command to access settings is VG.

Check the category of the family you are trying to insert and then check if this category is enabled in the VG of the view in your project.

2. Specific host

Some families can only be inserted in specific hosts, for example, there are lighting fixtures that can only be inserted in ceilings, and if you don't have a ceiling in your project, Revit will not allow you to insert this family, displaying a lock symbol next to it. mouse side (🚫).

To resolve this, you must understand which is the host of this family and create it in your project before inserting the family.

3. Family loading problem

There is also the possibility that there is some problem in this family in the plugin, which prevents it from being loaded, although this is a more remote possibility.

To check if the family was loaded in your project after clicking on the plugin, press ESC and look for this family in the Components tool, or in the appropriate tool, in the case of specific families such as doors and windows, which have their own tool.

If you see the family there, it means that it was correctly loaded into your project.

4. Create a new view

If none of the above solutions work, we recommend that you create a new view and see if the family will work in this new view, this test is important because there are other factors that can prevent the family from being displayed, such as Filters or Project Phases for example, and , in those cases, creating a new view this problem would generally not occur.
